MEIGS — Meigs Mayor Cheryl Walters is gearing up to draw the blueprint for the next 10 years of the small Thomas County town and is encouraging residents to pick up a pencil.
Starting this week, Meigs will begin crafting the 2018 comprehensive plan.
“In the comprehensive plan, we will review everything in the city,” Walters said, adding the new plan will address if Meigs met goals from the previous comprehensive plan.
According to Walters, aspects to be addressed in the plan include zoning regulations, infrastructure, street and water system repairs and will follow the same template other Georgia cities use.
“Everything that goes into operating a city,” she said, also noting the plan will see where the city has been and determine where the city is headed.
Walters and Pastor Willie Mcneil of Kairos Worship Center are part of the comprehensive plan’s steering committee.
“We’re still looking for a third member,” Walters said, noting trying to find a third member since September.
Public hearings for the comp plan are scheduled for May 18 and 25, 6:30 p.m., at the Meigs Community Center.
