MOULTRIE, Ga. — A 1-year-old Colquitt County girl who was rushed to a Macon hospital after a near-drowning incident at a pool at her home was expected to make a full recovery.
Daymira Gusmely, the mother of the toddler, reported that the girl, Amy Molano, was in the pool with her 4-year-old brother at about 3:44 p.m. Wednesday when the incident occurred in the 200 block of Selina Drive.
Gusmely told officials that she turned away to get a ball, and when she turned back to the pool the baby was under the water. She removed the girl from the water and began giving her CPR.
The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services investigated and was satisfied with the care of the children in the household, Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Robinson said. The little girl was on a respirator on Friday, but it was expected to be removed over the weekend and she will be monitored for a few days.
She is expected to make a complete recovery and not to have any lasting health issues related to the incident, Robinson said.
