Former substitute teacher charged with child molestation

TIFTON — A local woman was charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation and false report of a crime, according to a police report.
Carmen Celaya Johnston, 45, of Tifton, was charged June 22, just days after she filed a report with the Tifton Police Department claiming she was being stalked.
Johnston, a former substitute teacher, and the victim first met when Johnston was a substitute teacher at Northeast Campus, according to Detective Ferron Yi with the TPD.
The young man was not named, but according to the initial police report Johnston filed, he is a 20 year old male.
The initial incident date reads 2011, which would put the victim’s age at around 14 when they first met, according to the second report.
When Johnston filed the first report June 18, she claimed that a teenager had been sending her texts and had been seen driving by her house from March until June of this year.
Johnston’s bail has been denied and she is currently being held at the Tift County jail.
