Those Gold Star Moms

Dear editor:

 I was so pleased to see Betty Terry recognized as a Gold Star Mother by the V.F.W.

 She and her family sacrificed so much when Wayne Terry was killed in Vietnam in 1971.

 Please allow me to recognize four other Gold Star Moms who live in Colquitt County.

Imla Dickens is the mother of Capt. Delma Ernest Dickens. Ernest was killed in December of 1972.

Most Popular

Clara Hall is the mother of Private First Class Jackie Wayne Hall. Jackie died in January of 1968.

 Edna Burgess is the mother of Corporal Cleatis Lynn Burgess. Lynn died in October of 1970.

Finally, Bernice Tumblin is the mother of Sergeant Hiram Knighton, Jr. Hiram died in August of 1966.

If you see or talk to any of the Gold Star Mothers mentioned above, thank them for their sons’ service and the sacrifices these moms made along with their loved ones.
