Thieves make off with $30,000 irrigation pump

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A car and an irrigation pump were big-ticket items stolen in recent days, with the owners reporting the value of the stolen property at $40,000.

On Tuesday, John Stallings, of the 200 block of Riggins Road, reported the theft of a John Deere irrigation pump.

The pump, valued at $30,000, was stolen from a field in the 100 block of Funston-Sale City Road.

Stallings told police that on the previous day he saw a boat trailer tied where the pump was located. A man was fishing in the pond, but there was no vehicle there.

Also on Tuesday, Laqita Roberts, 600 block 12th Avenue Southeast, reported Tuesday the theft of a 2007 Saturn Outlook valued at $8,000 that was stolen during the night from underneath her carport.

At about 2:30 a.m., about an hour and a half after Roberts reported the car stolen, police were dispatched to the intersection of Woodman Road and Davis Street to investigate a wrecked car.

The silver Saturn was the one Roberts’ had reported stolen, police said.
