Woman assaulted at city rose garden

THOMASVILLE — An Adel woman was assaulted at the Thomasville Rose Garden early Thursday morning, according to Thomasville Police reports.

The victim works near the Covington Avenue garden and was sitting in her Ford F-150 truck about 6:30 a.m. waiting for time to go to work at a nearby business when she as approached by two men.

“One man said, ‘Ma’am.’ She looked up and was struck in the face multiple times and grabbed around the throat to the point she passed out,” said Capt. Maurice Holmes, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander.

A police incident report shows the woman was struck twice on the face with brass knuckles The victim told police the assailant pulled her through the vehicle window until the upper half of her body was outside the truck.

“There was not a robbery. This was an intentional assault on her by these two individuals,” Holmes said.

The assault resulted from something that happened in Adel, said Holmes, adding, “All the evidence leads to the issues in Adel.”

When the woman regained consciousness, she saw the males walking toward Cherokee Lake Park. She described the men as white. The attacker, she told police, had bad teeth and wore a white Hard Rock T-shirt.

The victim told police she would go to the Archbold Memorial Hospital emergency room for treatment.
