One dead in late night Waffle House shooting (updated)

TIFTON – A late night shooting at the Waffle House located on 7th Street that ended up with one employee dead is under investigation by the police department.

According to Leutenant Lee Dunston with the TPD Criminal Investigation Department, officers with the Tifton Police Department, along with Tift County deputies responded to an armed robbery in progress call at the Waffle House located at 706 West 7th Street at approximately 1 a.m. on August 5.

When they arrived, they discovered an employee, 30 year old Jesse Hall, in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. The wound proved to be fatal.

According to the press release provided by Dunston, it appears that Hall and another employee encountered two would-be robbers in the parking lot.

One of them shot Hall and the other physically assaulted the female employee, who has not been identified at this time.

The two men ran from the scene toward the area of Timmons Drive and West 11th Street.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations was called to assist in the investigation.

The TPD are asking that anyone with information is asked to call the Tifton Police Department at (229)382-3132.

Detective J. Teter is the lead investigator on the case but any investigator or police officer can take your information.

The staff and management of Waffle House have been responsive, courteous, and helpful, according to Dunston.
