Qualifying for Thomasville elections start Monday

THOMASVILLE — Qualifying for two Thomasville general elections in November starts Monday.
The Thomasville City Council will conduct elections for three council seats.
Seats open are:
• District 1, Post 2
• District 2, Post 2
• At-Large
Mayor Greg Hobbs currently serves District 1, Post 2, Council member Max Beverly currently serves District 2, Post 2, and mayor pro tem Don Sims currently serves as the at-large council member.
The second general election is for three seats on the Thomasville City School Board.
Seats open are:
• District 1, one seat
• District 2, two seats
Board member Dr. Hazel Jones currently serves District 1 and board members David Cone and John Everett currently serve in District 2.
Qualifying begins Aug. 21 and lasts until Aug. 25. Qualifying times are from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
Fees for qualifying are $234 for Thomasville City Council and $35 for Thomasville City School Board.
To vote in the November election, registration must be completed by Oct. 10.
