MOULTRIE — A year has come and gone since a Moultrie woman’s disappearance was reported to law enforcement, and they appear to be no closer to finding the mother of three.

Shada Tamara Esther, who was 29 at the time she went missing, was last seen on Aug. 23, 2016.

The Moultrie Police Department requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s assistance in the case, and both agencies are still involved in the search.

“We are still actively working (the) Shada Esther case,” Jamy Steinberg, special agent in charge of the GBI’s Thomasville office, said this week in an e-mail response to The Moultrie Observer. “(We’re) looking for new leads. We are just over the year anniversary on it.”

Police described Esther as a black female, about 5’ tall, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts can contact the GBI at (229) 225-4090, or the Moultrie Police Department at (229) 890-5449.

At about the same time as Esther had been missing for a year, police asked for the public’s health in finding a Colquitt County man who had been missing for more than three months at that time.

The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person’s report for Herbert Christopher “Herbie” Miller on May 7. His family has not heard from him since about 10 a.m. on that date.

Miller is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes, is about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighs about 145 pounds.

Police said that Miller has severe scars on both legs from previous burns and a “Pay it Forward” tattoo on his neck.

Anyone with information can contact the sheriff’s office at (229) 616-7430.
