MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Latina woman on Shady Grove Road may be the latest victim of violent robbers who have plagued Colquitt County in recent months.
Annabelle Cruz was threatened with what she believes was a gun but was not injured, according to Colquitt County Sheriff’s Investigator Ronald Jordan.

Jordan said Cruz had strapped her child into a safety seat in her car about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday outside her residence. She went to get in the driver’s seat and was surprised by a black male, dressed all in black and wearing a ski mask.
The man pressed something into her back that she believed to be a gun, Jordan said, and he demanded money. He took her purse, containing approximately $350.
The child began to cry, and Jordan said Cruz believes that frightened the man away. That’s when she saw a second black man, also dressed all in black with a mask on his face, who was also running away.
Hispanics have been targeted in a series of robberies, including home invasions, dating back at least to late May. The robbers have similar descriptions in all the cases. Shots have been fired during some of the robberies, and victims have been injured either by the shots or by being hit with a gun or the robbers’ fists.
Most recently, the Dollar General Store on Camilla Highway was robbed by four or five gunmen Friday night.
