VALDOSTA, Ga. — Valdosta Police Department arrested two juvenile suspects in connection to a burglary Monday night.
According to a VPD report, around 11:15 a.m., officers responded to a burglary at a home in the 3700 block of Alene Way.
During the same time, Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies were on scene at another residential burglary in the 3700 block of Knights Academy, the report stated. The locations were in close proximity to each other.
Several witnesses reported seeing three juveniles leaving the burglarized home, according to the report. Through the investigation, one of the juveniles was located at a local restaurant. Authorities said the suspect had stolen property on his person.
The suspect’s parent was contacted, and a search of the juvenile’s residence was permitted by the parent. The search yielded additional recovered stolen property, authorities said.
The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with burglary.
Further investigation by the VPD’s burglary detectives and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a second juvenile suspect, who has been taken into custody and charged with burglary. Both juveniles have been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Additional charges are pending, according to the report.
Both suspects are 15 years old, police said.
There is a third juvenile who has been identified as possibly being involved, but the guardian is not cooperating with law enforcement, officials said.
“The Valdosta Police Department will continue to provide support to any parent that requests assistance in dealing with their child,” Lt. Adam Bembry said. “However, it is essential to teach our children that they will be held responsible for their actions.”
