MOULTRIE — National Beef Packing Company announced Monday that it will expand its Moultrie plant, adding 100 additional jobs.
The company said it is starting a project that will increase its capacity to produce consumer ready products.
“We are experiencing an increased demand for fresh consumer ready products. The expansion will allow us to deliver on this growing opportunity,” said David Davidson, vice president of case ready operations, National Beef.
This expansion will involve an investment of more than $30 million to include a physical plant expansion as well as new processing and packaging equipment, said Davidson.
The project will add 100 additional jobs to the existing 300 jobs.
“National Beef is committed to investing in projects that help us serve our customer requirements for high-quality products,” Davidson added.
Davidson said the expansion should be complete in the fourth quarter of 2018.
National Beef, headquartered in Kansas City, produces consumer ready beef, pork and ground beef products. The Moultrie plant is located at the former Swift and Company site.
