State football playoff ticket sales begin Monday

TIFTON — The Tift County High athletic department has released ticket information for Friday’s state home football playoff game between Tift County and Newnan.

The contest will be the first home state playoff game for Tift (9-1) since 2006. They are the No. 2 seed in Region 1-AAAAAAA, having defeated Camden County, 21-10, Friday night to earn that position.

Newnan (4-6) defeated East Coweta, 30-28, Friday, to earn the No. 3 seed out of Region 2.

This will be the second ever meeting between the Blue Devils and Newnan. The teams last met in 2008, when the Cougars shut out the Devils in the second round of state.

The winner of this state tournament game will play either Hillgrove (No. 1 seed) or Roswell (No. 4) in the second round.

General admission and reserve section tickets will both be $8. Only babies being carried will be admitted free. Ticket prices are set by the Georgia High School Association.

The gates will open at Brodie Field next Friday, starting at 5:30 p.m. One ticket booth, on the visitors side, will sell tickets beginning at 4:30 p.m. North and south ticket booths on the home side will begin ticket sales at 5:30 p.m.

Prior to game time, tickets will also be on sale at the following locations and times:

Tift County High will sell tickets to season ticket holders only Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. General admission and reserve section tickets will be sold Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:35 a.m.-1:40 p.m.

The Tift County Board of Education will sell general admission tickets only next Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

General admission and reserve section tickets will be sold at Brodie Field Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m.

General admission tickets will also be sold to students at Eighth Street Middle and Northeast Campus. Both locations will sell these tickets next Friday during all lunch periods.
