Woman sentenced to prison for breaking infant’s arm

MOULTRIE — A Colquitt County Superior Court judge sentenced a Moultrie woman accused of breaking her 4-month-old son’s arm, insufficiently feeding him and other physical abuse to 20 years in prison.

Judge James E. Hardy imposed the sentence on Mariah Nadia Arnold after she entered a guilty plea to aggravated battery. That was the most serious charge in the five-count indictment that included four additional charges of cruelty to children.

The child cruelty charges were dismissed as part of her plea agreement.

Arnold was accused of breaking the infant’s arm on June 17, 2015. Other accusations included not feeding him sufficient food, yanking his arm, stretching and bending his legs to cause pain and wiping his lips so hard as to cause bleeding.

In other sentencing:

• Boris T. Fuller, 38; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute; two nine-year prison sentences to be served concurrently, $2,000 fine, 80 hours’ community service, and consent to evaluation and/or treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Kenny Bonds, 53; aggravated assault; seven years’ prison, eight years’ probation, $1,500 fine, reimburse Colquitt County $500 for public defender fees, 120 hours community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Leslie Astain Peeler, 27; possession of cocaine; two years’ probation, $2,000 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service and undergo drug rehabilitation.

• Quandarius Corbin, 22; possession of firearm; two years’ Colquitt County Correctional Institution, five years’ probation, $2,000 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Joshua James Rhymes, 29; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; 12 months’ Colquitt County Jail, 10 years’ probation, $1,500 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 80 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Carlos L. Montgomery, 45; identity fraud; five years’ probation, $2,000 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Curtis C. Tarver, 47; possession of cocaine; three years’ probation, $1,500 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Aktavious Whitaker, 24; possession of marijuana; 12 months’ probation, $1,000 fine, $250 public defender reimbursement, 80 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Dylan Michael Harrell, 19; second-degree burglary; four years’ probation, $1,000 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service, pay restitution as ordered, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Tyler Edward Sellers, 29; second-degree burglary; three years probation, $1,000 fine, 40 hours’ community service, pay restitution as ordered, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Tanya Johnson, 39; three counts deposit account fraud; five years’ probation, $2,000 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, pay restitution as ordered, 40 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Anthony Dale Lee II, 26; identity fraud; four years’ probation, $2,000 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service work, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• James Gilchrist, 55; second-degree burglary; four years’ probation, $1,500 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Christopher Ziegler, 42; possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute; seven years’ probation, $1,500 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, 40 hours’ community service, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.

• Kristi Jordan, 28; possession of a controlled substance; three years’ probation, $2,500 fine, $500 public defender reimbursement, consent to evaluation and treatment for alcohol or substance abuse.
