Wanted man jumps out window

A Moultrie man who left a Sylvester Drive home through a window, along with the resident whom police were seeking to arrest on a probation warrant, faces charges related to the escape.

On Sunday morning, deputies went to Antonio Levert Spradley’s 3021 Sylvester Drive residence to pick him up on an outstanding warrant, police said.

When they arrived, Spradley seemed cooperative and said he just wanted to get some clothing to take with him and make some arrangements, according to Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office reports. An officer waited outside the door when Spradley went into a bedroom that was occupied by Terrance D. Owens.

After several minutes passed, officers became suspicious and one went into the bedroom to discover that neither man was there and the window screen had been removed.

While searching the area for Spradley, police found Owens walking away from the residence on Sylvester Drive and took him into custody.

Owens, 32, was charged with aiding or permitting another to escape lawful custody.

Spradley, 31, had not been taken into custody as of Tuesday afternoon on the latest probation violation warrant. He was arrested on April 7 and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and probation violation.

In other arrests:

• Richard Daniel Holt, 43, 307 Hyde Lane, Norman Park, was charged Friday with driving under the influence, no insurance, criminal trespass and driving while tag suspended.

• Johnny Lee Randall, 47, 417 Sixth St. N.W., was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct.

• Lewis Green, 44,1002 Sixth Ave. S.E., was charged Friday with simple battery.

• Heather Ray Bates, 23, 195 Ruth St.

Burglary

Moultrie Police

• Bernetra Johnson, 400 block Second Street Southeast, reported Monday the theft of clothing valued at  total of $100 from a shed after cutting the lock.

• Gary Holland, 1000 block Sharon Church Road, reported Monday the theft of $40.

Moultrie Police

• Jennifer Edmunds, 38, Moultrie, reported Monday of a laptop computer valued at $500.

She was not sure whether it was taken from her work place in the 800 block of North Main Street or at her residence in the 600 block of Sumner Road, police said.

• Courtney Patillo, 31, Moultrie, reported Monday the theft of $400.

Patillo told police that after a male acquaintance came to her residence to use a cigarette lighter she noticed that the money was missing from where she had placed it. That man was the only other person in the residence.

• Dennis Powers reported Monday that someone used a PayPal account fraudulently on an account on Overstock.com.

Powers told police that he has never used PayPal or made a purchase from the company.

• Annette Crawford reported Friday that a male acquaintance charged $514 to her Fingerhut account without her permission.

Property damage

Moultrie Police

• Shonda McBride, 800 block Shy Manor Drive, reported Monday that someone broke a bathroom window of her residence.

McBride told police that at 3:45 a.m. she heard a window break on the sough side of her apartment.

• Shaneika Farrell, 800 block Seventh Avenue Northwest, reported Monday that a male acquaintance broke a window of her residence.

Farrell reported that she and a male acquaintance were talking through the window. When he asked o come in she refused, telling him that she was about to leave.

She then heard glass break and saw the man running toward a gray van.

Moultrie Police

• Belks, 2443 Old Main St., reported Monday that someone dumped a bag of garbage and a couch at the rear of the business.

An employee told police that this was not the first time trash has been dumped at the location.

• Yoandra Ricardo-Gongora, Moultrie, reported Monday that while driving on Old Adel Road another driver struck the rear of the 2003 Toyota Echo she was driving.

Ricardo-Gongora told police that she was waiting for traffic while turning right onto Highway 133 South when the dark blue pickup truck hit her and the driver continued driving.
