MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A 14-year-old Milledgeville boy is incarcerated in the Regional Youth Development Center (RYDC) in Sandersville after being charged on Christmas Eve with torturing a cat.
Local authorities said the teenager also used his sister’s cellphone to video the acts.
The teen was charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals, according to an incident report filed by Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Robert Adams.
His name is being withheld because he is considered a juvenile.
The crime happened between 4:15 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 at a residence on the 100 block of Stuart Circle, Adams said in his report.
The deputy said the teenager was placed in custody after he viewed a video recording from a cellphone of the boy’s sister, which showed the cat being tortured.
Adams said the teenager videoed himself committing the acts on a white cat.
“I saw where he grabbed the cat by the tail, slung him against a wall, kicked the cat several times, and stomped the cat in the head,” Adams said in his report.
The teen also narrated the video recording as he was torturing the animal, Adams said.
While viewing the video the deputy said the teenager watched it with him and laughed.
Adams said he later got in touch with Stacey Washington and advised her of the situation. Washington, who works with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, told the deputy to take the teenage to the RYDC facility.
There was no mention in the report of the cat’s injuries or whether or not the animal survived.
