MOULTRIE, Ga. — There is no joy for one Tifton baseball fan who lost as many as 10,000 baseball cards and an Atlanta Braves World Series bat in a break-in at an Ellenton-Omega Road residence.

On Tuesday, John Hunnicutt reported that he was notified by someone on Monday night   that the carport door   was open at the residence in the 3200 block of Ellenton-Omega Road, Omega.

When he investigated the next morning, he found that the entire house had been ransacked, with drawers pulled out on the floor, cabinets emptied, bedrooms rifled and a window broken.

Hunnicutt told police that the stolen items included dishes from the kitchen, possibly baseball cards numbering about 10,000 from the 1980s-early 2000s, about 800 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, a baseball bat from the Atlanta Braves World Series win and a PA system.

Due to the condition of the house after it had been rifled through Hunnicutt was unable to tell police whether anything else had been taken or immediately give an estimate of the value of property stolen.
