Three of the senior company dancers from Moultrie had lead roles this year: Tori Cordista as the Chinese Lead, Annabelle Norman as the Archangel and Faith Luke as Snow Queen and Lead Spanish.

Luke is a graduating senior who attends Colquitt County High School.

“This was Faith’s first time performing the role of Snow Queen in the Nutcracker and she was glorious,” said a press release from the ballet company. “Faith commanded the stage and performed flawlessly. It is shocking to see such grace and professionalism from a high school student. All of the girls rose to the occasion and shined on stage like true professionals.”

Along with Luke, Cordista and Norman, South Georgia Ballet’s dancers also included Colquitt Countians Sarah Strickland and Holland Jarvis, as well as dancers from Thomas County, Grady County and Decatur County.

South Georgia Ballet is a pre-professional training company that performs three shows a year: “Nutcracker,” FUSE and an annual spring performance. This year’s performance will be “Peter Pan.”

The ballet will bring its FUSE performance to Moultrie at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Colquitt County Arts Center.

This performance features contemporary dance works to iconic music from the ’70s and ’80s performed by Dana King and the Gypsy Cotton. This performance will also include art from local artisans and a dance party with a reception immediately following the performance.
