Middle school tennis teams beat Pine Grove and Lowndes

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school boys and girls tennis teams remain undefeated after defeating both Pine Grove and Lowndes middle schools on Wednesday at Lowndes High.
The score of all four matches was 5-0.

The middle school girls have won five of their seven matches by 5-0 scores and the other two by 4-1 scores.
The boys team, after opening the season with three straight 4-1 wins, have now won four straight 5-0.
For the middle school girls against Pine Grove on Wednesday, Beylee Roberts at No. 1 singles won 6-2, 3-6, 10-4.
At No. 2 singles, Sydney Wheeler won 6-3, 6-3, and Anna Belle Roberts won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-2.
At No. 1 doubles, Payton Moore and Kathryn Faison won 6-2, 6-2. Anna Beth Elliott and Karli Yarbrough won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Against Lowndes, Beylee Roberts at No. 1 singles, Wheeler at No. 2 singles, and Annabelle Roberts at No. 3 singles all won 6-2, 6-2.

Moore and Faison also won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Elliott and Madelyn Hurst won by forfeit at No. 2 doubles.
Hurst and Yarbrough played an extra doubles match and won 6-2.
Against Pine Grove, the Packers Kevin Johnson at No. 1 singles and Alyn Herndon at No. 2 singles each won by forfeit.
At No. 3 singles, Christopher Rogers won 6-2, 6-4.
The No. 1 doubles team of Nathan Corley and Albert Stringer and the No. 2 doubles team of John Melvin Herndon and Jon Cone both won by 6-2, 6-2 scores.
Against Lowndes, Johnson won at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-4; Alyn Herndon won at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-3; and Rogers won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Corley and Stringer won 6-2, 6-2. Cone and John Melvin Herndon won by forfeit at No. 2 doubles.
The middle school teams will be back at the Lynda Moseley Tennis Complex on Monday to play Hahira.
The conference tournament will be played on Thursday, March 26, at McKey Park in Valdosta.
