Lawmen investigate $15,000 in thefts

Recent thefts reported to area law enforcement agencies totaled more than $15,000, including a lawn mower and trailer and electronics from homes and cars.

On Sept. 26 a Scag Freedom Z zero-turn 52-inch cut mower and the trailer holding it were taken from a City of Moultrie parking lot at 26 Second Ave. N.E.

Bill Johnson reported that the orange lawn mower and black trailer, valued at a total of $9,000, were taken between 9 p.m. Sept. 25 and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

In a car break-in Saturday, Samuel Collins, 900 block First Avenue Southwest, reported the theft of property owned by Rachel Roberts, 37.

Collins told police that electronic equipment with a total value of $4,890 was stolen out of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe.

In an unrelated entering auto case, Kaitlyn Bolin, 1900 block Garden Villa Drive, reported Sunday the theft of property and cash valued at $382 out of a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Sheriff’s Office

• Jimmy Sutton, 600 block Greenfield Church Road, reported Friday the theft of two rifles with a total value of $600.

• Colquitt EMC, 15 Rowland Drive, reported Friday that a customer whose power had been cut off in the 1000 block of County Line Road had stolen electricity.

Police said that the meter for the house was on the ground and metal plates had been installed in place of the meter.

• Johnathan Jenkins, 200 block Sam Sells Road, reported Sunday the theft of 11 Xbox console games, two 360 wireless controllers and a gaming head set with a total value of $365

Jenkins told police that he checked a store that buys and sells used game equipment he found his $350 worth of his properly, which has been returned to him.

• Amos Lamar Goran Jr., 19, 4895 Hwy. 133 N., was charged Sunday with criminal trespass and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

• Victor Miguel Salazar, 26, 326 N. Green St., Doerun, was charged Thursday with driving while license withdrawn, driving without license and speeding.

• Bryan Alexander Terry, 28, 1503 John Collins Road, Pelham, was charged Thursday with failure to drive within single lane, failure to provide assistance or report accident, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, driving while license withdrawn, reckless driving and tire violation.

• Julio Rosales Jr., 25, 339 Willow Drive, was charged Thursday with driving without license.

Moultrie Police

• Joshua Jamara Rhymes, 28, 1013 10th Ave. S.E. was charged Wednesday with three counts sex offender failed to report, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and two counts probation violation.

• Jordan Odum Browning, 25, 260 Schley Church Road, was charged Sunday with driving under the influence and failure to drive within single lane.

• Alpha Shelton Batts, 73, was charged Saturday with contempt of court.

• Christy Ann Mock, 37, 2208 Fifth St. S.E., was charged Saturday with theft by shoplifting.

Police arrested Mock after Walgreens, 2025 First Ave. S.E., reported a theft of merchandise valued at $241 at 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

Merchandise valued at $241 was recovered, police said.

• Kerry Bernard Sharpe, 208 Eighth St. S.E., was charged Aug. 13 with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

• Jose Hernandez Pacheco, 54, 241 Ewer Road, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence and failure to drive within single lane.

• Roberto Galbon, 58, 2221 Hwy. 133 N., was charged Aug. 23 with speeding, driving while license withdrawn and driving without license.

• Roy Adam Butler, 41, 1095 Bass Road, Hartsfield, was charged Aug. 16 with parole violation.

• Julie Charee Folsom, 34, 506 E. 40th St., Tifton, was charged Aug. 14 with giving false name or information to police officer and seat belt violation.

• Dennis Antonio Slaughter, 30, 407 10th Ave. S.E.

Police arrested Slaughter when officers were dispatched at about 1 a.m. Saturday to a report of a man holding a pipe and a knife in the area of Third Street and Sixth Avenue Southeast.

Slaughter, who was swinging the pipe, was told to put it down, police said, and when asked whether he had other weapons reached toward his pocket. He obeyed orders to put his hands on his head and a knife was found in his right pocket.

During the encounter police discovered that he had an active arrest warrant.

Battery

Sheriff’s Office

• Crystal Kirk, 100 block East Gate Drive, Norman Park, reported that a female relative threw a coffee pot containing hot coffee and a container holding tea bags because she would not let her borrow a car.

Elizabeth Hannah Kirk told police that she burned herself with the coffee pot but she refused medical attention.

Elizabeth Hannah, 172 East Gate Drive, was taken into custody and will be charged with simple battery, police said.

Moultrie Police

• Brittany Medley, 21, Moultrie, reported Sunday that a male acquaintance attacked her at about 10 a.m. in the 300 block of Seventh Street Southeast.

Medley told police that she was holding her 2-week-old baby and had walked to her father’s residence where the 19-year-old male pulled on her to prevent her from entering going inside. The man also used vulgar language while her other two children were standing in the area.

Terry Medley, the father, told police that he punched the man in the face and he ran away.

Arteveion Johnson contacted police and reported that he was holding the child when he was punched in the face. He told them that he did not want Brittany Medley’s new boyfriend holding the 2-week-old child they have together.

Property damage

Sheriff’s Office

• C.L. Fowler, 2600 block Tallokas Road, reported Friday that posts of his electric fence were bent and driven into the ground and that the fence wire had been disconnected.

Fowler told police that he had had problems with a neighbor’s dog coming in the yard.

• Linda Molden, 400 block Mulberry Street, Funston, reported Thursday that the driver of another car struck the side of her 2000 Chrysler Town and Country.

Molden told police that she was turning left into a driveway at the intersection of Highway 37 West and Mulberry Street when the other car passed on the left side and struck the van. After the impact the other driver did not stop.

Johnny Branson, 2000 block Smithwick Bridge Road, Coolidge, reported Saturday that his mail box had been pulled out of the ground.

He added that the same night the damage occurred people on four-wheel vehicles also damaged the roadway and painted on a bridge.

• Brandon Watson, 1400 block Overlook Drive, reported Sunday that while driving east in the 600 block of Wilder Road the driver of a car heading west forced him off the road.

Moultrie Police

• Wanda Jeanne Daniels, 63, 1200 block Ninth Street Southwest, reported Friday that a tire was flattened and the trunk scratched on her 2005 Toyota Corolla.

• Rafael Rodriguez, 1000 block 15th Street Southeast, reported Saturday that a group of teen-age males damaged his wooden fence.

He told police that they left the area before they arrived.

• Anita Johnson, 1800 Pine Circle Southwest, reported Saturday that two juvenile males damaged her 2003 GMC Envoy.

A witness saw two males hitting the car with a sledgehammer, police said.

The car had broken windows on the rear passenger side and a large dent above the rear tire on the passenger side, police said.

The witness described the toys as both white with blond hair, both wearing shorts with one in a blue shirt and the other in a green shirt.

• Sabrina Ownes, 400 block 30th Street Southeast, reported Sunday that a male acquaintance broke the driver’s side mirror of her 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer.

Moultrie Police

• Mitchell Davis, 21, San Diego, Calif., reported Friday an incident of identity fraud.

• Shelby King-Branch, 58, Doerun, reported Saturday that her credit card had been used fraudulently.

Other investigations

Moultrie Police

• Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., reported Saturday that a woman banned from the store had been inside at around 3 p.m.

The woman was not there when police arrived.

• McDonald’s, 506 First Ave. S.E., reported that a man was harassing employees at about 5:30 a.m.

Police served the man with a trespass warning notifying him that he would be arrested if he returned.
