MOULTRIE — Music will fill the air of Downtown Moultrie on Saturday night when the 19th annual Music Under the Magnolia features the Kinchafoonee Cowboys and John Berry.

The Kinchafoonee Cowboys go on stage at 7:30 p.m. at the Lewis Hill Amphitheater on the Courthouse Square.

The South Georgia-based band is a favorite around the state. It plays all types of venues from small clubs to large outdoor festivals. The Coqboys have shared billing with entertainers such as Alabama, John Anderson, Trisha Yearwood, Diamond Rio, Tracy Lawrence, Martina McBride, Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band, and many others.

The six-member band includes local harmonica player Shane Cannon.

Berry, known for several country music hits in the 1990s, will perform at 8:45 p.m. at the same location.

Between 1979 and 1990, Berry recorded six albums on his own Clear Sky Records label. After being signed by Capitol Records in 1992, his hits included “Your Love Amazes Me,” “Standing on the Edge of Goodbye,” and “I Think About It All The Time.”

His stunning performance of “O Holy Night” led to one of his most enduring legacies, a Christmas Tour that has been captivating audiences since 1996.

While Berry made his name in country music, he released his first gospel album in 2012 and indicated at that time that he was moving more into that musical genre.

“As John has grown in his walk with Christ, his calling has been to share God’s love with his audience,” according to a press release.
