Diamond Jack S. Smith

ALBANY – Diamond Jack S. Smith, 72, of Albany, GA, died Sept. 11, 2015, at Emory University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Doerun. Pastor Dana Swain and Pastor Ray Jenkins will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

 A native of Sigsbee, Ga., Mr. Smith graduated from Doerun High School and lived in Colquitt County until moving to Albany in 1976.  He was a member of Liberty Parkway Church of God. He was the CEO and founder of Alithicon Lubricants Company in 1995, but had been in the Industry for over forty years.  Mr. Smith was a former member of the Loyal and Benevolent Protective Order of The Elks and The Loyal Order of the Moose.

 Survivors include his children, Jack (Rhonda) Smith, Jr. of Leesburg, Jill (Billy) Bass, Jody Smith, and John Smith, all of ALbany; the mother of his children, Sue Gunn Smith, of Albany; his sisters, Jeanette Veasey of Savannah, Ga., and June Harrison of Atlanta; and his grandchildren, Dylan Elliott, Dustin Elliott, Dalton Elliott, and Daniel Elliott, all of Albany.

 The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, at Mathews Funeral Home.

Linda Marie Russell Stripling

MOULTRIE- Linda Marie Russell Stripling, 67, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, from injuries received in an auto accident.

Graveside rites will be 11a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev. Julian Griner officiating, assisted by the Rev. Carl Felts.

Born July 10, 1948, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Leo Russell and Nadine Tompkins Russell.  She was a homemaker.  “She enjoyed spending time with her family, dearly loved her grandchildren, and was a wonderful cook.” her family remembered.  “She was the best sister anyone could have,” her sister said.  She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she was the pianist and served on the Food Committee. 

She was preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Russell.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie Everett Stripling, of Moultrie; three sons, Brad Stripling, Drew Stripling and Ashley Stripling and Amanda, all of Moultrie; two grandchildren, Tommy Stripling and Lorelai Stripling; one sister, Faye Griner and Donnie, of Ochlocknee; a foster brother, Anthony Kirkland and Margaret, of Marietta; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Mathis and Marion and Debbie Whitley and Lane, all of Moultrie; and her brother-in-law, Lavon Stripling and Beth, of Moultrie.

Memorial contribution may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, Roof Fund, 1584 Hopewell Church Road, Moultrie, Ga. 31788.

Glenda Rogers Morris 

MOULTRIE- Glenda Rogers Morris, 65, of Moultrie, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, near Blountstown, Fla., from injuries received in an auto accident. 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17,  at Lakeside Assembly of God with the Rev. Donnie Lewis, the Rev. Tom Lawrence, and the Rev. Sonny Morris officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be John Morris, Kelly King, Matt Rogers, Stacey Middleton, Josh Jackson, and Tom Barry.  Dwane Rogers and Brian King will serve as honorary casketbearers.

Born October 5, 1949, in Homerville, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Lester Rogers and Ruby Rogers.  She was a substitute teacher with the Colquitt County Board of Education and was formerly a billing clerk at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.  She was a member of Lakeside Assembly of God.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Morris, of Moultrie; six children, Sonny Morris and Charlette of Homerville, Ga., Meshelle Kidd and Tim of Cleveland, Tn., Adam Morris and Lawana of Orlando, Fl., David Morris, T.J. Morris, and Michael Morris and Nichole all of Moultrie; twelve grandchildren, Jacob Morris, Taylor Kidd, Taytum Kidd, Conner Morris, Gabriel Morris, Ashlyn Morris, Jacob Morris, Ava Morris, Guage Morris, Matthew Morris, Landon Morris. and Kayleigh Morris; a sister, Linda Rigdon and Jimmy of Homerville, Ga.; and a brother, Earl Rogers and Thelda of Homerville, Ga. 

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Robert Emory Weaver, Sr.

NORMAN PARK – Robert Emory Weaver, Sr., 76, of Norman Park. died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Southside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Blackburn, the Rev. John Myrick, and the Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Interment will be at Southside Baptist Church Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Tony Weaver, Ronnie Baker, Jody Weaver, Rocky Weaver, Jamie Weaver, Zayne Weaver, Thomas Sumner, Tim Hartsfield, Chuck Hartsfield, Bob Bennett, and Brandon Gay.

Born on Nov. 8, 1938, in Norman Park, he was the son of Julius “J.N.” Weaver and Louise Hunnicutt Weaver. He was a farmer and retired rural letter carrier, and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Emory “Rob” Weaver, Jr.; and one brother Jimmy Weaver. 

Survivors include his wife, Gail Gunn Weaver, of Norman Park; daughter, Monika W. Griner and husband, Keith, of Moultrie; sisters, Margaret Ann Sumner and husband, Jerry, of Norman Park, Brenda Hartsfield and husband, Buddy, of Norman Park; brothers, Billy Weaver of Norman Park and Sunny Weaver of Moultrie; and grandchildren, Keaton Alyse Griner and fiancé, Dr. Clay Walker, of Perry, Ga., Bryson Griner Giddens and husband, Bryce of Jonesboro, Ark., and Garrett Keith Griner of Moultrie.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
