MOULTRIE – Carson-Newman offensive lineman Turk Daniels has been named the South Atlantic Conference’s Offensive Freshman of the Year.
The former Packer is the first offensive lineman in the history of the league to win the award.
After starting every game in his four-year career at Colquitt County, he has become the first Carson-Newman offensive lineman to start every game of his freshman season since future All-American Pat Egan.
Between his time at Colquitt County and at Carson-Newman, he has started 59 straight football games.
He is the first Eagle to win the offensive freshman of the year award since Troy Dendy in 2019.
Daniels produced 74 knockdowns, the most in a single season in school history.
He helped Carson-Newman to lead the SAC in rushing. The Eagles produced 273.7 yards rushing per game, which ranks third nationally.
Carson-Newman lost the South Atlantic Conference championship game to Wingate 28-13 last weekend, but has qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs.
