Lanier Co. educator named Colquitt County pre-k director

The Colquitt County Board of Education voted july 9 to approve the appointment of Lisa Strickland as the pre-k director/Early Learning Grant coordinator. She is replacing Lynn Clark, who retired.
“Mrs. Strickland brings a variety of experiences that will be assets in her position as pre-k director/Early Learning Grant coordinator,” the school system said in a press release. “She has spent her career in education, thus far in Lanier County; first, as a middle school math teacher for two years and then as a fourth grade teacher for nine years. She became the FTE and student records director, where she served for one year before being promoted to the student services director position. She served in this capacity for five years before being named the associate superintendent of special education and student services in 2010.”
Strickland earned her bachelor of science degree in middle grades education, master of education in middle grades education, master of education in educational leadership, and an educational specialist degree in educational leadership all from Valdosta State University.
“I am very excited to be selected as the Colquitt County pre-k director/Early Learning Grant coordinator,” she said. “The opportunity to be involved in establishing the foundation for a child’s education is challenging, yet rewarding. I am grateful that the system entrusted such a responsibility to me, and I am looking forward to working with all stakeholders to help provide the most positive experience for students and parents as their child begins their first year of school.”
Strickland and her husband, Jay Jay, have three children, Marihelen, Trey, and Taft.
