Blood drives planned for next week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Blood donors can receive a gift of thanks at several upcoming OneBlood drives, including two in Moultrie.

The Big Red Bus will be collecting donations throughout South Georgia between now and the end of the month. From 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, it will be at the Moultrie Lowe’s, and from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, it will be at the Moultrie Wal-Mart. Both stores are on Veterans Parkway.

Donors will receive a $10 gift card to the host store at each of the events.

In addition, all donors receive a wellness checkup of blood pressure, iron count and temperature, including a cholesterol screening.

Generally healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. To learn more about the importance of blood donation and how donors can target the power of their blood type visit oneblood.org.

The OneBlood blood bank provides blood to most of Florida and areas in southern Georgia and Alabama, including Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
