Barber became eligible to compete in the state event after winning the Area 5 FFA Floral Design Career Development Event in September at Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville.

The Floral Design Career Development Event allows students to use the principles and elements of design. Each student makes two floral arrangements and answers questions by a panel of judges concerning floral design principles. Students use the principles of balance, proportion and scale, focal point, emphasis, rhythm, harmony and unity, and the technique of flower placement to create their designs.

Barber, a 7th grader, is the daughter of Cecil and Celina Barber of Moultrie. Chad Bass is her FFA advisor.
