No jobs for them

“It’s bad enough to lose business in our community because of the services they provide. But beyond that, we don’t have jobs for those who were working there. Is anyone even looking at Moultrie and Colquitt County as a place to expand?”

In response

“People in R&R talking about how scary it is after seeing how many were arrested in the roadblocks for DUI, no license, no insurance, etc. The really sad part of it is the fact that most of it is imported but not deported ! As long as it’s put up with and a big stink is not raised it will continue. It will probably take somebody important getting killed by one of them before something is done about it.”

Leave garbage containers as they are

“The underground containers are fine as they are. Moultrie is much prettier without a large green container in front of every house and no litter strewn up and down the street after the roll out gets knocked over. When the decision was first made to place the containers underground apparently it was thought at the time to be the best choice.

“And how much is it going to cost to remove all the underground liners and fill with dirt? Just leave them alone and spend the money on protecting and keeping the new park that everyone wanted!”

Longevity

“About those garbage cans…someone mentioned that they didn’t think the rollout cans would last 10 yrs., well we live in the county and have had ours for nearly 20 yrs. and it will likely go for at least another 10 or maybe another 20 before it needs replaced!

“Those in-ground ones are unsightly…just drive around town & see how many won’t hold the amount of garbage that residence creates, how many are broken and I don’t enjoy it when I can’t see one & run over it when I’m trying to park!

“And I’m wondering what toxins have leaked into the soils around the cracked & broken ones????”

Observation

“It hit me this morning while reading the Rants and Raves: We live in a great and very blessed country when we can argue about trash containers and how many people to invite to graduation. Think about it!”

Applause

“Great editorial from Susan McCranie! I believe she put in print what many of the concerned voters are thinking.

“I also believe that many of our federal legislators are leaving their brains elsewhere.

“Instead of fighting the ACA (Obamacare) why not work to fix it like the Democrats did with Bush’s roll out of Medicare prescription coverage?

“It took quite some time to iron out most of those wrinkles but you didn’t see the Democrats raising such a fuss…and Bush’s program was unfunded!

“Our ‘representatives’ no longer represent the voters, they only represent those who contribute to their campaigns…bought and paid for…on all sides!”
