Citywide revival and crusade to start on Sunday

The Rev. William C. Morgan of Valdosta, Ga., will be the guest evangelist for the Colquitt County Interdenominational Christian Alliance Annual Citywide Revival and Crusade that will be held at the Friendship M.B. Church, located at 421 6th Ave. N.W., the Rev. Alfred, Jones, pastor.
Service will began on Sunday, June 15, at 6 p.m., with a musical. Revival service will began on Monday, June 16 through Wednesday, June 18, 7 p.m., nightly. Officers of the organization include the Rev. John W. Greene Jr., president; The Rev. Alfred Jones, vice president; and the Rev. W. B. Sales, 2nd vice president.
Morgan was born in Manhattan, N.Y., the son of the late Helen Jones Morgan. His early childhood education was acquired at Lowndes County’s P. G. Williams Elementary and West Side High School and he continued his education at Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Boy’s High School, graduating in 1971.
Following high school, he joined the Armed Forces, serving more than three years as a member of the United States Army’s Medical Corp. He joined the United State Postal Service on Sept. 10, 1976. After 32 years of service, he retired from the postal service.
In 1980, he enrolled at Valdosta State College, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in speech communication and, in 1989, with a master’s degree in public administration.
He is a member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Valdosta, where he served on the deacon board for seven years. In 1991, he felt called into the gospel ministry. He was licensed and ordained under the leadership of the late Pastor Otis Columbus Pitts. In 1993, he was called to the pastorate at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, where he continues to serve.
Then, he enrolled and graduated from Bethany Bible College and Theological Seminary of Dothan, Ala., with a Doctorate of Theological Studies. He also graduated from Andersonville Seminary in Camilla, Ga., with a Doctorate of Ministry.
Morgan has served as chairman of the Eastern Division Union and moderator of the South Georgia Missionary Baptist Association and eight years as secretary of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc.
He is married to Altamese Hunter Morgan and they are parents of eight children and five grandsons.
