Bridges qualifies for NCAA Zones on 1-meter board at Florida State

MOULTRIE – Former Colquitt County and Moss Farms diver Bo Bridges made his debut for the Georgia swimming and diving team by posting an NCAA Zone-qualifing score.
His 320.15 was was good for third place in a meet against Florida State in Tallahassee.
He also has scored a 312.75 on the 3-meter board against Florida on Nov. 1.
Bridges is a two-time Georgia high school champion and while representing Moss Farms, he finished 10th on 1-meter and second on synchronized 3-meter at 2024 USA Diving Junior Nationals.
Of this and that:
• Former Colquitt County wrestlers Austin Paradice and Ethan Sellers are competing for Life University.
Paradice was a two-time state champion for the Packers.
Jeff Hammond has led Worth County to its first region championship since 1989 when Milt Miller was the head coach.
The Class A Division 1 champion Rams will play host to 4-6 Coosa in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday.
A win over Coosa would send the Rams to a second-round game against the winner of the Chattooga at Dodge County game.
Worth started the season 2-3, but won its last five in a row.
The regular season-ending 49-0 victory over Brantley County raised Hammond’s career record as a head coach to 21-21.
Hammond twice served as Colquitt County’s offensive coordinator under Rush Propst.
• Former Packer Omar Daniels contributed to Georgia Tech’s 28-23 road upset of No. 4 Miami last weekend with six solo and two assisted tackles. One of the tackles was for a loss. He also was credited with a pass breakup.
Georgia Tech, now 6-4, will play next on Thursday, Nov. 21, at home against North Carolina State and will finish the regular season at Georgia on Friday, Nov. 29.
Kamal Bonner started at linebacker for North Carolina State in a 29-19 loss to Duke last Saturday and came up with two tackles for loss and six assisted tackles.
The Wolfpack, now 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the ACC, will go to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech on Thursday, Nov. 21.
• In Minnesota’s 26-19 loss to Rutgers last week, starting wide receiver Le’Meke Brockington had one pass reception for 21 yards.
The Golden Gophers, now 6-4, will be home to face Penn State on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Ryan Fitzgerald scored all of Florida State’s points with a 23-yard first-quarter field goal in the Seminoles 52-3 loss at Notre Dame.
Landen Thomas had one catch for nine yards for the 1-9 Seminoles, who will play host to Charleston Southern on Saturday, Nov. 23.
• Freshman Jerron Blakely contributed four assisted tackles to Carson-Newman’s 56-14 win over Tusculum last Saturday.
Blakely’s former Packers teammate Turk Daniels has started every game for the 9-1 Eagles, who will play host to Wingate on Saturday.
Kaleb Dawson contributed three total tackles to Alabama A&M’s 52-24 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The Bulldogs will play next on Thursday, Nov. 14, at Grambling State.
• In West Virginia’s 31-24 victory at Cincinnati last weekend, Ty French was credited with three tackles, including one for loss.
The 5-4 Mountaineers will be back in Morgantown to face Baylor on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Tyler Walker had a 20-yard reception in West Alabama’s 31-6 win over Shorter last Saturday in Rome.
The 8-1 Tigers will be home to meet Erskine on Saturday.
• In Eastern Kentucky’s 31-24 win over Central Arkansas, Jaheim Ward started in the secondary and had four solo and two assisted tackles.
The 6-4 Colonels will play at Austin Peay on Saturday.
