Donald Morgan Thomas, 79, of Moultrie, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Graveside rites, with military honors, will be 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12, at Pinecrest Memory Gardens with the Rev. Mark Addington officiating.
Born June 7, 1932, in Calhoun, Ga., he was the son of the late Henry James Thomas and Fannie Blankenship Thomas. He was a Korean Conflict Navy veteran and was a former aircraft mechanic with Hawthorne School of Aeronautics. He was a retired salesman with Frito-Lay, with over 28 years of service and was formerly associated with Thomas Tire Co. Most recently, he was the manager of the Suwanee Swifty Store.
“He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren,” his family remembered of him.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Greeson and Mae Edwards; three brothers, R.L. Thomas, Jimmy Thomas and Carl Thomas; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kate and Howell Welch.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Welch Thomas of Moultrie; one daughter, Diane Mims and husband Jimmy of Hartsfield; five grandchildren, Don Mims, J Mims, Jason Mims, Jeremy Mims and Donna Norman White; five great-grandchildren, Katie Norman, Robert White, David White, Jayden Mims and Jayleigh Mims; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., on Sunday, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
