Donald Wesley “Donnie” Taylor, 72, of Moultrie, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Midway Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Jackson and Mr. Brian Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Jimmy Matthews, Terry Clark, Roscoe Gay, Charles Humphries, Chuck English, Gene Sellars, Troy Lindsey and Sonny Weaver. Members of the Moultrie Fire Department will serve as honorary casketbearers.

Born Jan. 13, 1940, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Clyde Taylor and Martha Matthews Taylor. He served in the United States Army and retired from the Moultrie Fire Department as a captain, with 30 years of service. He was also formerly associated with Scruggs Concrete Company. He was a member of Midway Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Weaver and one grandson, Justin Humphries.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sloan Taylor of Moultrie; one daughter, Lynn Humphries and husband Marcus of Moultrie; two granddaughters, Taylor and Katie Humphries; and his mother-in-law, Nona Mae Sloan of Moultrie.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Feb. 7, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
