Drug charge added when police arrest theft suspect

A Meigs man charged with theft faces additional charges as suspected marijuana was found on him at the time of his arrest, Moultrie Police Department reports said.

Samuel Lyles III, 2015 Bracewell Court, Meigs, was charged Thursday with theft of services and possession of marijuana.

When an officer served a warrant for Lyles’ arrest at 3:49 p.m. in the 700 block of Georgia Highway 133 South, a search turned up two small bags containing suspected marijuana, police reports said.

Lyles also is accused of illegally hooking up utility services at a residence in the 400 block of First Avenue Southeast, the reports said.

In other arrests:

• Austin Ryan Clayton, 1620 Overlook Drive, was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana.

• Elbenezer Bersham Walker, 40, 312 Third St. S.W., was charged Friday with failure to appear.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Brandon Paul Calloway, 32, 1107-B N. Washington St., was charged Thursday with driving under the influence, failure to drive within a single lane and open container violation.

Doerun Police Department

• Willis Franklin Bunch, 33, 604 S. Green St., was charged Thursday with disorderly conduct.

Georgia State Patrol

• Kimberly Joan Carroll, 38, 985-A Circle Road, was charged Thursday with driving while license withdrawn and open container violation

• Rafael Hernandez, 44, 9962 Doc Darbyshire Road, was charged Thursday with driving without a license.

• Joseph Robert Monday, 37, 233 Lindale Ave., was charged Thursday with DUI and open container violation.

Thefts

Moultrie Police Department

• Steve Watts, Coolidge, reported Thursday the theft of $3,000 worth of property from a 1999 Dodge Dakota parked in the first block of Industrial Drive.

• Drake Property Management, 710 First St. N.E., reported that a newspaper was stolen Thursday.

• Danny Williams, 1000 block 10th Street Southeast, reported Thursday that a male acquaintance was given two checks totaling $1,396 to cash for him.

Williams told the officer that the man had left with the checks about seven hours prior to filing the report and had not heard from the man.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Becky Perry, 900 block Jonathan Road, reported Thursday the theft of an unknown amount of dimes, 10 $2 bills and 10 $1 coins.

The total value of the stolen property was $37.

• Robert Baron, 2400 block Sardis Church Road, reported Thursday the theft of a Sony LCD television valued at $1,600.

• Kyle Johns, 300 block West Bethel Avenue, reported Thursday the theft of a Techwood stereo system.

Johns told the officer that he lent a stereo to a male acquaintance who moved without returning it or informing him.

Moultrie Police Department

• Oxley’s, 501 Veterans Parkway, reported Wednesday that a man tried to cash a stolen check at the store.

The man, who tried to cash the check on a Obsolete Ford Parts Co., left when a store employee called 911, police reports said. The check was written for $400.

• Kathy Wright, 100 block First Street Southwest, reported Thursday that more than $4,000 was withdrawn from her checking account by someone using her debit card information.

• Aaron Green, 100 block First Street Southwest, reported Thursday that his personal information had been used by someone who filed a fraudulent tax return.
