Left lane

“The issue came up awhile ago about the purpose of the left lane on a four lane highway. Unless the law has changed the left lane is for passing and emergency traffic. It is not intended as a driving lane.

“If a law enforcement officer sees you using it as a driving lane you can be ticketed. I am writing this because I have needed the lane twice in an emergency situation and had to use the center lane to pass. This was not only unnecessary but dangerous for me and the other drivers. Obey the law and use the lane for the purpose it was intended.”

Movies at school

“School principals do you have any idea how many movies are shown in your classrooms?”

The SPLOST

“Today I’m voting in favor of the SPLOST. I want everyone to help pay the bills and share some ownership in the facilities.”

“Someone said that our government business should be taken care of in the regular budget. That means ad valorem taxes. Perhaps you don’t know how much it costs to pave a road … one that everyone (non property owners included) uses.”

“Hats off to the folks at Indian Lake who still believe in making Halloween a treat for the kids! They were great this year! Making it what it is… a night for kids to get together and have fun! Like when I was a kid, not to worship the devil like some say, but just pure fun!”

“I got to tell you, when I think about what has been asked of our military since 9/11 it kind of tears me up. They have performed with honor and remain unequalled to any other military on the face of the earth.

“Even though questionable motives took them to war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 they have made this country proud. We owe each and every one of them a debt of gratitude for their service and a promise that their contributions will not be forgotten. Having said this, one thing I can not understand is how the Republicans in Congress can refuse to acknowledge the accomplishments of the SEAL team that got bin Laden.  A proposal was made by the Democrats to honor Seal Team Six for the raid on bin Laden’s compound and elimination of bin Laden. Due to political reasons the Republicans refused to even debate the issue. I guess they think Obama might get some of the credit and we can’t have that. How can they call themselves Americans. This is a disgrace.”

Safe, enjoyable

“I guess the self-righteous have given up trying to take the fun out of Halloween. It seemed both safe and enjoyable for the kids.”
