MOULTRIE — Colquitt County Sheriff’s Deputy and School Resource Officer at Okapilco Elementary School, Abbie Tucker, is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Veterans Parkway Tuesday morning.
Tucker was in her marked patrol vehicle at the intersection of Veterans Parkway South and Southside Drive. According to a Facebook post from the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office, it is believed that she failed to yield the right of way after stopping at the stop sign and pulled out into the path of an oncoming semi truck. The sheriff’s office is waiting for the official report from the Georgia State Patrol as the accident is still under investigation.
Also, according to the post, the driver of the semi was transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center, treated and released. Tucker was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital where she remains in serious condition in the ICU.
“The medical staff has told us that the next 24 hours will be the most critical at this point,” stated the sheriff’s office post. “Please continue to keep the deputy and their family in your thoughts and prayers.”
