UPDATE: Man shot to death in Quitman

UPDATE: Khalil Proctor, 20, the suspect in the fatal shooting of Edward Denson, 25, in Quitman, turned himself in at the Brooks County Jail Tuesday afternoon, the GBI said. He is in custody.

QUITMAN — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking for a suspect in connection with a deadly shooting Monday night.

About 10:14 p.m. Monday, Quitman police asked for the GBI’s help with a shooting that took pace at 201 W. Hill St., the GBI said in a press release Tuesday afternoon.

Edward Denson, 25, was shot. His body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for a thorough investigation, the GBI said.

Agents and Quitman police conducted interviews, collected evidence and processed the crime scene. The investigation identified 20-year-old Khalil Proctor as a suspect, the press release said.

The GBI has taken arrest warrants for Proctor, charging him with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and felony murder, but as of Tuesday afternoon, he was not in custody.
