MOULTRIE — The Arts Center of Moultrie is proud to announce its latest exhibition, Painter Hayes, now open to the public and on view through June 18. Admission is free, and all are invited to experience this striking collection that offers bold visuals and inspires viewers.

Painter Hayes, the creative team of Sarah and Cosby Painter Hayes, brings together a vibrant selection of work that engages with themes of identity, environment, social reflection, and kitsch aesthetics. Each piece acts as both a mirror and window – inviting self-reflection while offering a unique glimpse at the world around us, the Arts Center said in a press release.

“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to showcase a diverse set of artists in terms of technical skillset and subject matter,” said Amber Moore, curator of the Arts Center of Moultrie. “When Sarah and Cosby applied for the 2024 Southern Arts Invitational, I knew I needed to get them back in the Arts Center to showcase more of their works.”

Both Sarah and Cosby have roots in Tallahassee, Florida, and showcase those roots in their work. Sarah’s works seek to showcase the unique biodiversity of Florida through a feminist lens, featuring young girls standing as protectors of Floridian fauna amidst a variety of Florida’s natural environments; Cosby’s pieces highlight the Florida’s kitsch tourist trinketry through satire and celebration, providing commentary on the desire to mold our environments into personalized havens.

“The Arts Center is extremely proud to showcase regional artists,” said Joy Yost, executive director of the Arts Center of Moultrie. “This collection is a great representation of the nature, beauty, and character of the North Florida and South Georgia regions, and we hope that people will be able to come by and experience these works while we have them on view.”
