Colquitt individuals, relay
teams qualify for state

MOULTRIE – Colquitt County will send five individuals and five relay teams to the Class 6A Sectional track meet.
The group Lady Packers and Packers qualified for the Sectional at the Region 1-6A track meet held Tuesday-Thursday at Valdosta High School.
The Sectional will be held Saturday, May 3, at Westlake High School in Atlanta.
Bryce Toomer, Ameri Knighton and Azaria Battle each advanced to the Sectional in two events.
Toomer won the region championship in the discus with a 160-foot throw.
He was second in the shot put with a 51-11.
Knighton had a strong region meet, finishing second in the 200 meters with a 22.02 and fourth in the 100 meters with a 10.86.
Both were personal-best times.
Isaiah Wingfield earned a trip to Westlake with a 43-10.5 triple jump that was good enough for third place.
Ja’Shar Kinsey advanced with a 6-2 high jump that earned fourth place.
For the Colquitt County girls, Battle qualified when she finished third in the discus with a throw of 97 feet.
Battle also set a school record with her 34-9 shot put.
The Colquitt County 4×400-meter relay team earned a silver medal with a time of 3:25.54.
The team included Kamari Fuller, Isaiah Wingfield, Ja’Shar Kinsey and Silvester Carolina.
The boys 4×200-meter relay team took third place with a school-record 1:28.74.
Running for the Packers were Ameri Knighton, Jalen Clayton, Dyi James and NaRyan Spiey.
The Packers 4×100 team, which also featured Knighton, Clayton, James and Spivey, finished fourth with a time of 42.45.
The girls 4×200-meter relay team of Ta’Meria Williams, Samiya Fuller, Nacardia Robinson and Aziah McNeal took a bronze medal with a school-record time of 1:46.06.
The same four girls competed in the 4×100-meter event and took fourth place with a school-record 49.34.
Those who advance at the Sectional will compete in the girls and boys state track meet, which will be held May 9-11 in Carrollton.
