Giddens qualifies for girls
state golf tournament

MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County varsity girls golf team did not advance at Monday’s area golf tournament.
But Lady Packer Addyson Giddens did qualify for the state tournament as an individual with round of 88.
The lowest scoring player on a team that does not qualify for either the sectional or the state tournament advances to state as an individual.
Giddens is a senior.
Richmond Hill and Tift County, the top two finishers at the area tournament, which was held at Tifton’s Spring Hill Country Club, qualified for the state tournament.
The Class 6A state tournament will be held May 19-20 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Lowndes, which was third, and Camden County, which was fourth, will advance to the state sectional, which will be held May 5-6 at Villa Rica’s Fairfield Plantation Golf Course.
Richmond Hill’s tournament-best 232 was led by Alex Mohler, who turned in a 2-under 70.
Tift County was seven shots back at 239. The Lady Blue Devils were led by Marlee Veazey, who shot a 77.
Catherine Odom’s 73 led Lowndes’ third place-finishing 249.
Camden County shot 278.
Colquitt County finished ninth with a 304.
In addition to Giddens’s 88, the Lady Packers counted a 106 by Peyton George and a 110 by Jerzie Coots.
Blair Summerlin and Makenzie Greene also played for the Packers.
