Colquitt golfers place 8th
in Granger Invitational

MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County boys golf team shot a two-day 645 to finish eighth in the Granger Classic held in LaGrange last week.
The Packers shot a 324 on Thursday, the first day of the tournament, which was held at Callaway Gardens.
Colquitt turned in a 321 on the second day at Highland Country Club.
The eighth-place finish qualified Colquitt for the match play portion of the event.
The Packers met Brookstone on Saturday morning and lost 3.5-1.5.
Leighton Hood won his match and Cavin Hall rallied to tie his match after being down two shots.
The Packers first-day 324 was led by a 79 posted by Reese Hood.
Hall and Leighton Hood each shot an 81 and Jacob Rowell had an 83.
On day 2, Peyton Collins turned in a 77 to lead the Packers’ 321 score.
Hall and Rowell each shot an 81 and Leighton Hood had an 82.
Brookstone finished first with 21-over 608.
The Cougars were followed by Benedictine, which shot 619; Lambert, 619; North Paulding, 625; Rome, 629; Columbus, 635; Northgate, 643; and Colquitt County, 645.
The Packers will play next on Friday and Saturday in the Trojan Invitational at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton.
The Area championship is scheduled for Monday, April 28, at Sunset Country Club in Moultrie.
The Sectional will be held on May 5-6 at Sunset Hills and the state meet will be in South Georgia on May 19-20 at Kinderlou Forest in Valdosta.
