MOULTRIE – Colquitt County’s revived slow-pitch softball team will open the 2025 state tournament at 11 a.m. Wednesday when it meets Elbert County.
The two-day tournament, featuring the state’s 16 best teams, will run Wednesday and Thursday at Twin Creeks Park in Woodstock.
With a win in its first game of the double-elimination tournament, the Lady Packers would face the Richmond Hill-Woodstock winner at 2 p.m.
The Lady Packers are No. 8 in the Georgia High School Association slow-pitch rankings.
The Colquitt County girls, 6-4, opened and closed the regular season with doubleheaders against two of the top three programs in the state, both of whom also are in the state tournament field.
On February 26, the Lady Packers dropped their season-openers 19-4 and 19-0 at West Laurens, currently 10-0 and ranked No. 3.
Colquitt then swept three straight doubleheaders, all at Packer Park.
The Lady Packers defeated East Laurens 13-9 and 18-5; Macon County 14-2, 11-0; and Hancock Central 21-0, 21-0.
West Laurens and East Laurens also qualified for the state tournament.
