Soccer teams prepare for
home matches with Camden

MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County soccer teams prepared for Friday’s Region1-6A home matches against Camden County by splitting with Fitzgerald on Tuesday.
The Colquitt County girls lost 2-1 to the Lady Hurricanes at Packer Park and fell to 5-10 overall.
The Lady Packers are 3-5 and in fourth place in the region as they prepare to meet Camden, one of the top programs in south Georgia.
The Lady Wildcats, who beat the Lady Packers 9-0 on March 28 in Kingsland, are 7-2 in the region and 12-3 overall.
Camden trails only 10-0 Richmond Hill in the region standings. Richmond Hill is 15-1 overall.
It was Senior Night on Tuesday, but it was an unusual one for the the Colquitt County girls team, which has no seniors this season.
The Colquitt County boys honored their six seniors by defeating Fitzgerald 3-1 to raise their record to 9-5 overall.
The Packers seniors recognized between games are Will Blanton, Turner Brice McDaniel, Gilbert Cruz-Morales, Edgar Contreras Gallardo, Cason Haskin and Adrian Gallardo.
McDaniel celebrated by scoring one of the Packers three goals in the win over the Hurricanes.
Carlos Garcia Jr. and Jessie Guerrero had the other two goals for the Packers.
When they meet Camden County on Friday, the Packers will try to avenge a loss in penalty kicks in their first meeting with the Wildcats last month.
The Packers are 4-4 and are tied with Lowndes for third place in the region.
The Packers and Vikings will close out the regular season on April 18 with a match at Lowndes.
Richmond Hill is atop the region boys standings with a 10-0 record. Camden is second at 7-2.
