MOULTRIE – The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine’s Shelter Medicine service visited the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society. They provided recommendations for improving operations in alignment with guidelines from the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, focusing on funding and enhancing animal wellness.
With support from the Colquitt County Archway Partnership, four veterinary students and a faculty member reviewed shelter statistics, medical records, and operations. They offered prioritized recommendations for animal care, facility improvements, and staff training to the humane society.
The Archway Partnership is one of eight UGA Public Service and Outreach units dedicated to serving the state. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Archway and UGA’s innovative approach to community engagement have won a number of national awards. It also garnered a more than $7.6 million return on investment for Georgia communities last year.
