Story-Bell team qualifies
for state fishing tournament

- The Colquitt County Packer bass fishing team of Walker Story and Brayden Bell qualified on Saturday to compete in the May 3 state bass fishing tournament at Lake Lanier.
MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County bass fishing team of Walker Story and Brayden Bell overcame blowing winds at West Point Lake on Saturday to qualify for the state tournament.
Story and Bell will join the two-man teams of Hayden Hamm and John Davis Summerlin and Hayden Glass and Andrew Stanford in representing Colquitt County in the May 3 state tournament at Lake Lanier in Gainesville.
Hamm and Summerlin qualified on Feb. 8, at Lake Oconee and Glass and Stanford qualified on March 8 at Clarks Hill.
The tournament at LaGrange’s West Point Lake was the final qualifier for the season.
Story and Bell caught five fish weighing 10 pounds, 6 ounces to finish in 19th place in the 235-boat field.
Taking first place on Saturday was the team of Nolan Holloway and Ben Langford of Morgan County. The two Bulldogs caught five fish for 19 pounds and 2 ounces.
Also competing for the Packers on Saturday were Brayden Carter and Cole Thompson, 67th, three fish, 6-7; Jackson Hart and JP Raymond, 82nd, three fish, 5-10; Kaleb Tucker and Zeak Warner, 89th, three fish, 5-0; Jace Davis and Levi Castanon, 98th, two fish, 4-4; and Hayden Glass and Andrew Stanford, 117th, two fish, 3-4.
