Toomer wins discus, shot put
in Harmon’s Invitational

MOULTRIE – Colquitt County’s Bryce Toomer won both the discus and shot put events at the Harmon’s Invitational held March 22, at Cook High School.
The annual meet is usually held at Lowndes, but was moved to Adel because of work being done at the high school.
Colquitt County was among 24 schools that had athletes competing.
And both the discus and shot put events had 46 participants.
But Toomer, the Packer senior, held off all comers.
In the discus, he had a winning throw of 153-05.
Kameron Roberts of Lowndes was second at 150-1.
In the shot put, Toomer’s best was 50-11.
Desmond Frazier, also of Lowndes, took the silver medal with a 48-5.5.
The Packers also got a bronze medal-winning performance from Ja’Shar Kinsey who finished third in the high jump with a 6-4.
Colquitt had four other top-8 finishes:
• Samiya Fuller was sixth in the girls 100-meter dash.
• Joshua Alford was sixth in the boys 100-meter dash.
• Azaria Battle was seventh in the girls shot put.
• Caden Calhoun was eighth in the boys shot put.
Also competing were teams from Appling County, Baker County, Bradwell Institute, Brunswick, Cairo, Cook, Dougherty, Carver-Columbus, Hamilton County (Fla.), Highland Christian Academy, Highland Running Club, Lee County, Mitchell County, Monroe, Northside-Warner Robins, Suwannee (Fla.), Thomas County Central, Thomasville, Tiftarea Academy, Tift County, Valdosta and Westover.
The Colquitt County track teams will compete next on April 11, in the Valdosta Invitational.
