MOULTRIE — A routine traffic stop turned into a drug trafficking stop. Two suspects were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
On March 11, deputies stopped a vehicle that had run a red light. This led to the seizure of more than five pounds of marijuana, approximately 27 grams of cocaine and $2,130 in cash, said Investigator Christopher Wood.
According to Wood, during the initial traffic stop, officers discovered a couple of ounces of marijuana in the vehicle. It led them to get a search warrant for a residence.
“We investigated off of the traffic stop and the marijuana that was found during the traffic stop. We investigated from there on and located the over five pounds of marijuana and cocaine and the money,” he said.
Trinity Ruelas and Giovanni Ramos, both of 404 Seventh Ave. S.W., were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Additionally, Ramos was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
