MOULTRIE – Colquitt County’s two eighth-grade soccer teams advanced in the conference playoffs on Wednesday, although only the girls had to play.
The boys team was awarded a forfeit when Lowndes did not have enough players to put a team on the field.
The Colquitt boys, now 9-0, advance to the conference Final Four and will play Thomas County Central at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at Packer Park.
The Packers defeated the Yellow Jackets 8-0 in the regular season.
The Colquitt County girls had to play their match, but it was a one-sided affair with the Lady Packers winning 10-0.
Kayly Garcia scored three goals; Emily Garcia, Dyi James and Erykah Luna each scored twice; and Jocelyn Martin scored one goal for the Lady Packers who are now 8-1.
Colquitt’s girls will meet Pine Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at Packer Park in a Final Four match.
The Lady Packers won 4-0 over Pine Grove when the two teams met on February 5.
The boys and girls conference championship games are scheduled for Wednesday, March 26.
