School launches fourth leadership development program cohort

MOULTRIE – Colquitt County School District announced the launch of its fourth cohort in the Colquitt County Leadership Development Program (CCLDP). This initiative cultivates leadership within the district and prepares future administrators and school leaders.

The 2025 cohort consists of 29 participants, representing various roles across the district. It includes teachers, instructional support staff, and other school personnel. Each participant self-nominated and then, their principal or department head selected them as an aspiring leader with the potential to take on greater responsibilities within the Colquitt County School District.

Former Superintendent Ben Wiggins launched the CCLDP, in 2022, to develop internal leadership and provide structured opportunities for professional growth. Since its inception, the program has successfully rotated between assistant principals and teacher leaders. It ensures employees across all levels have access to leadership development.

Superintendent Daniel Chappuis reaffirmed the district’s commitment to identifying and supporting future leaders, “Our goal is to build capacity within the district by recognizing and developing the talented individuals we already have. Through this program, we are committed to ‘growing our own’ leaders who will continue to shape the future of our district.”

Throughout the year, participants will engage in comprehensive leadership training focused on key areas like school operations, curriculum and instruction. Also finance, human resources, special programs, and legal considerations in education. Additionally, they will have opportunities to collaborate with district leaders, shadow current administrators, and engage in mentorship experiences. Therefore, deepening their understanding of school leadership.

The Colquitt County Leadership Development Program reflects the district’s dedication to recruiting, developing, and retaining strong educational leaders. By investing in leadership development, Colquitt County Schools aims to ensure a pipeline of highly qualified, committed, and visionary leaders.
