MOULTRIE – A babysitter was arrested Thursday, accused of abusing a toddler that was in her care.
Christina Marie Liles of Moultrie was charged with battery and released on bond, according to records at the Colquitt County Jail. The case is still under investigation by the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.
Scott Strickland said his 18-month-old daughter suffered bruises from a spanking she got from Liles.
“An 18-month-old, they can’t even talk,” he said.
Strickland said that the previous week, the toddler had “issues with her arm and foot.” When he asked Liles about it, he said that she said she did not know anything about it. Later, the family saw bruises on her buttocks and notified the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office, he said.
He also said that Liles kept their children but only theirs and was not affiliated with a day care center.
“She’s kept our kids for quite a while,” he said. “She admitted to spanking her, but [she said she] didn’t use that much force.”
