MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County Volunteer Firefighters Association has strategically placed 16 fire stations throughout the county. These stations are served by ten, new tankers.

In 2020, the VFA acquired five tankers and, in 2024, added five more to its fleet. These tankers play a vital role in providing water to the engines during large-scale fire operations, such as structure fires or extensive forest fires, said Dustin Hart, president of the Volunteer Firefighters Association.

“These tankers are an essential component of our fleet, contributing significantly to maintaining our ISO ratings. This, in turn, leads to substantial reductions in homeowners’ insurance premiums,” he also said.

The association’s fleet comprises a total of a little over 54 vehicles, including 20 engine/pumpers, 20 tankers, 14 brush trucks, and various support vehicles.

The VFA is always on the lookout for volunteers. Anyone interested in joining the team, can visit their local fire station in their community. They can also contact the main office, during business hours, at (229) 890-1805 for more information on becoming a firefighter in Colquitt County.

The newly established Station 12 is located in Moultrie at the main fire office on Veterans Parkway in Moultrie.
