MOULTRIE – The halls of Hamilton Elementary seem to be buzzing with excitement as Christina Cox and Logan Lauritsen’s kindergarten classes bring their learning to life through the “KinderKnowledge” podcast. These young scholars share their latest discoveries with the world each month.
With the guidance of Colquitt County School District Instructional Technology Specialist Daisy Beaver, students learn to navigate the digital world. Beaver assists the children in using the user-friendly Vocaroo website and a professional Blue Yeti microphone to record their voices, ensuring crystal-clear audio for their growing audience.
Each episode showcases the diverse range of topics explored in the classroom. Students take turns sharing what they’ve learned, whether it’s about nouns, animals, or being thankful. This monthly practice not only reinforces their knowledge but also provides a platform for them to express themselves.
“We believe in building literacy in our youngest learners by incorporating digital curation,” Beaver said. “Podcasting offers a fun and engaging way for students to practice speaking, listening, and vocabulary development.”
The benefits of this approach are:
Early Literacy: Children are actively practicing essential language skills.
Confidence Building: Sharing their voices boosts their self-esteem.
Community Engagement: Connecting with a wider audience fosters a sense of belonging.
Collaborative Learning: Working together strengthens teamwork.
